Mundy Family Genealogy

Current News and Updates
February 20. 2000

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!! It looks like it's been exactly one year since I created this family Web site. I have finally posted some of the information I received from Ruth and Linda Moore (see below). Although there are not a lot of specifics, this data takes this Web site back another 2 generations. Before, the oldest person I had was John Dickerson Mundy. This new data takes us back to John Dickerson's father, Burrus Mundy Sr., and Burrus' father, Samuel Mundy Sr. Most of what these contributing researchers have seems to go back to Samuel, and no one can find anything much about him, or beyond him. I still have more stuff from Linda that brings one branch up to the present. It's interesting how many of our family, from different branches, all migrated to Baltimore.

On the Mink side of things, Randy Mink of Bowling Green, Florida, who maintains the Mink Family Connection Web site, has planned a Mink Connection Reunion for Friday June 30th and Saturday July 1st at the Quail Community Park in Rockcastle County, Kentucky. Wouldn't that be a blast? I believe there is a connection between our Mink clan and Randy, but I haven't had the time to really explore it yet. The book from Al Mink that I sent to my Mom and Uncle Clifford might help, and I encourage anyone to explore Randy's Web site. It's quite a setup, as part of a Web Site created for just this purpose. I've seen Randy's photo there, and there is definitely a strong family resemblence to "our" Minks.

Previous Update News
December 5, 1999

Over the past several months, while no updating of this Web site has occurred, I have made contact with several Mundy and Mink family members, and they have sent me a LOT of data. It will be awhile before I get it all broken down and posted here, but if you're interested, take a look at the "Genforum" links in the Link Section below. These are like bulletin boards by family surname, and there are very active pages for both Mundy and Mink. You can always click to the main index page and find other family names to explore.

My first contact was with Al Mink in Elgin, IL. Al responded to my post at Genforum about Clifford Paris Mink, and e-mailed me a 90 page book of Mink family genealogy, which includes all 3 Cliffords, and me to boot. If you're interested I'm sure you could

e-mail Al Mink
and he would be happy to send it to you electronically. Otherwise, contact me with your mailing address and I will try to get you out a printed copy.

Randy Mink in Bowling Green, Florida located me showhere along the way and put me on his mailing list for his Mink family Web page. I haven't visited there yet... maybe someone would like to check out this Mink family site and send me a synopsis on it to post here.

On the Mundy side, I received a Genforum post from an Albemarle County, VA Mundy who is the great-great-grandaughter of Albert Mundy... the brother of John Dickerson Mundy. Her name is Ruth and you can

e-mail Ruth
--I'm sure she wouldn't mind.

Finally,

Linda Moore
posted to me that she was the great-great-grandaughter of Cal Mundy... the brother of Emma Lewis Mundy. She also sent me a wealth of data that I hope to post soon.

It really has been quite exciting to make these connections.

Sincerely,

Would you like to get a little return on all those tax dollars you pay? Visit my favorite web site and see what our government has for us thanks to NASA. I go here regularly... some of the pictures are absolutely astounding.

Cheers.

Origin of this web site...
This page was begun immediately following the funeral of Bertie M. (Mundy) Mink on January 21, 1999 in Baltimore, Maryland.

The intention of this site is to gradually grow into a virtual family "web", to include any and all family branches, so long as they connect back to the Mundy family of Charlottesville, Virginia -- by blood or by marriage. I

The site was started from memory and a few notes of my own. It is my hope that individual family members will contribute their knowledge and photographs to help the site grow in accuracy and completeness. If you have information to contribute, please e-mail me at the address below. My postal address is also provided in case you have photographs to contribute.
Please include a self addressed stamped envelope with any photographs you send to me to insure that they are returned safely.

Thank you in advance for your help in documenting and preserving our shared family history.
